EVER FALLEN IN LOVE WITH A HOME IN A MAGAZINE AND WISHED YOU COULD MOVE IN?
THE CROSS STREET PROJECT BY C+M STUDIO ALLOWED PEOPLE TO INDULGE THAT IMPULSE.
A project in which local design, community and the beauty of beachside Sydney combine, the newly renovated apartment was not only for sale but a completely shoppable space.
What does that mean? Well, basically you could:
- Buy The Cross Street apartment empty;
- Buy the apartment with everything in it;
- OR shop the amazing items that fill the space.
Interesting idea, right? Open for three weeks only (25 Oct – 8 Nov 2014), The Cross Street Project was about everything we love – creativity, good food, community and beachside living!
SHOPPING THE SPACE
We wanted to highlight the amazing creativity happening in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and around the city. So we invited a bunch of our favourite local designers, artists and retailers to fill our apartment with covetable homewares, furniture and artwork – all of it is available for purchase.
We’ve got pieces from locals artists like Zoë MacDonell and Bart Celestino, furniture and homewares from Mr and Mrs White and retailer Yellow Bungalow, gorgeous pieces from The Design Hunter… And that’s just the beginning.
Check out all our collaborators – they’re a pretty amazing bunch!
HANG OUT AT CROSS STREET
We owned the space so we wanted to bring people in to share it! We’re passionate about sharing our apartment with as many people as possible so we thought we’d invite the public in to participate in a series of events focused on home-grown sustainability and design. There was exclusive locally-focused waste-free dinner by The Farmed Table, a free Q+A onproperty development and design with C+M Studio, a gardening in small spaces workshop by Indira Naidoo and much, much more.
